REVISS Service engineers try to adopt a flexible approach to cobalt installations to fit-in with planned maintenance schedules. However, source installations require an unavoidable period of plant downtime. Our latest proprietary source optimisation software uses algorithms that work to minimise the number of source movements necessary to achieve the desired outcome. By so reducing the workload on the installation engineers we routinely beat installation times for manual load plans.

Minimising the number of source movements

The new software automates the process of adding new cobalt sources and moving exisitng ones within the rack. Movement constraints can be specified:

• loading must be done one column at a time
• no double handling i.e. each module can only be accessed once
